MIDLAND, TEXAS – For the third straight night, the Frisco RoughRiders picked up a road win in Midland, handing the RockHounds a 6-3 defeat at Citibank Ballpark on Monday night. With the win and a loss from Corpus Christi, the ‘Riders trail the Hooks by one game for first place in the Texas League South with seven games remaining in the first half.

Frisco (37-26) got going early against Midland’s Arnold Leon, tallying three runs in the first. They did so with five singles, the final coming from Odubel Herrera, one of three base hits he collected on the night. The ‘Riders singled 12 times in the ballgame, and 11 came off Leon.

The two teams went back-and-forth through the first three innings. Midland (29-34) got one off Frisco right-hander Neil Ramirez in the first and second, and the ‘Riders tallied single runs in the second and third. The final of those came on a solo home run from Tomas Telis, his second of the season, to make it 5-2 RoughRiders in the top of the third.

The ‘Riders added one more in the seventh before Leon made his exit. With two on, Chih-Hsien Chiang singled on a grounder to right, bringing home Guilder Rodriguez to put the ‘Riders ahead

6-2 and to gain their largest lead of the night. That was the end of the night for Leon; he went 6.2 innings and allowed six runs on 12 hits.

Justin Miller pitched a scoreless eighth, and Frisco led 6-2 heading to the ninth. Miller came back out for a second inning of work for the first time this season, and it did not go well for the major league rehabber. He gave up a single, a double, and a walk to load the bases, and the ‘Riders went to the bullpen again.

Ben Rowen, perfect in save chances, converted on the save for the ninth time this year. He got D’Arby Myers to bounce into a double play, which scored a run, and Anthony Aliotti to strike out looking to end the ballgame.

Ramirez (7-2) allowed two runs on seven hits in five innings and struck out three. Leon (3-4) suffered the defeat.

The RoughRiders looks for the sweep, finishing their road trip Tuesday night in Midland against the RockHounds at 6:30 p.m. at Citibank Ballpark. Kevin Pucetas (7-4, 4.48 ERA) makes the start for Frisco facing off against Sean Murphy (2-2, 5.12 ERA). Fans can tune in to the play-by-play broadcast on www.RidersBaseball.com beginning at 6:10.

The RoughRiders return to Dr Pepper Ballpark Wednesday, June 12 at 7:05 pm, beginning their longest home stand of the season with a four-series against the Corpus Christi Hooks.
