The Dallas Stars beat the Colorado Avalanche 3-2 Monday night at the Pepsi Center in Denver.

Jamie Benn scored twice for the Stars and added an assist on a goal by Brenden Morrow.  It was Benn’s first goals of the season.

After taking a 2-0 lead, the Stars found themselves tied at 2-2 midway through the 2nd period.  Benn’s wrist-shot 15 minutes into the period gave Dallas the lead for good.

Goaltender Kari Lehtonen saved 29 of 31 shots for his 7th victory in 11 appearances against the Avalanche.

Referee Chris Rooney was struck by a puck and fell to the ice.  He left the game for medical attention and did not return.  No word has been given on his condition.

The Stars play Wednesday at Edmonton.
