After a successful road sweep with three wins in Western Canada, the Dallas Stars ended the New York Ranger’s eight game winning streak with a 3-2 win. They also extended their winning streak to four games. John Klingberg, Ales Hemsky and Antoine Roussel had the goals in the Stars win. Kari Lehtonen made 28 saves out of the 30 shots he faced in the win.

J.T. Miller gave the New York Rangers a 1-0 lead in the first period on the power play that went past Kari Lehtonen as he slipped through the Stars defense and scored on a semi-breakway for a 1-0 lead with 14:03 left. Then John Klingberg answered back with a power play goal through the screened from Erik Cole and Colton Sceviour that tied the game at 1-1 with 10:58 left in the first period.

With 4:14 left in the first period, Ales Hemsky netted one of the oddest goals you’ll see as it tipped off Marc Staal and found the back of the net that gave the Stars a 2-1 lead. Then the Rangers responded back as Marc Staal took a shot from the point and it deflected in front by Kevin Hayes that tied it up with 2-2 with 3:14 left in the first period.

Then in the second period, Antoine Roussel scored off a rebound past Henrik Lundqvist 54 seconds to give the Stars a 3-2 lead with Ryan Garbutt and Cody Eakin getting the assists on the goal.

Kari Lehtonen came up huge as the Stars began their homestand on a high note with that win. They will continue their homestand on New Years Eve as they face the Arizona Coyotes for a 7pm puck drop. The Stars are now 6-1-0 in the last seven, 7-2-0 in the last nine. They are now 16-14-5 on the season.
