Stars beat Red Wings in OT

The Dallas Stars keep finding ways to win, this time requiring overtime to defeat the Red Wings 4-3 on the road in Detroit.

The Stars were down 2-0 before finally getting on the scoreboard with a slap shot by Brad Richards.  Brenden Morrow would tie the game before the end of the 1st period with a power play goal.

Trailing 3-2 in the 3rd period, Morrow then ties the game with his second goal of the game.  Loui Eriksson took the honors in overtime with an assist from Jamie Benn.  “It does say a lot about our team,” said Morrow. “It would have been nice to do it in regulation because we’re just tightening that Western Conference right now with all those points. Being down and fighting hard, we’ve just found ways the last three weeks or so to stay in games. This one could have been easy to let get away from us. (Andrew Raycroft) made some big saves for us, our PK did a good job and we just hung around and pounced when we got the opportunities.”

Goaltender Andrew Raycroft had 28 saves on the night.

It is the 20th win of the season for the Stars, who are 6-2-1 in their last nine road games.  Dallas returns home to host Montreal on Tuesday night.
