Stars Defeat Devils 3-1

The Dallas Stars defeated the New Jersey Devils 3-1 at the American Airlines Center Saturday night.  With the win, the Stars improved to 8-3 on the season, their best start since 2006.  Dallas is 5-1 at home this season.

Loui Eriksson opened the scoring with a goal in the first period.  Steve Ott and Jamie Benn assisted.

After New Jersey tied the score in the 2nd period, Vernon Fiddler put the Stars on top for good with a goal mid-way through the 3rd period.  Sheldon Souray scored an empty net goal while the Stars were killing off a power play with 2.7 seconds left in the game.

Goaltender Kari Lehtonon stopped 31 of 32 shots.

The Stars play again Friday, hosting the Colorado Avalanche.
