Stars Defeat Hurricanes

After defeating the Philadelphia Flyers 2-1 on Tuesday night, the Stars extended their winning streak to two games as they defeated the Carolina Hurricanes, 5-3. They got goals from Curtis Mckenzie, Alex Goligoski, Jason Demers, Cody Eakin and Patrick Eaves. Kari Lehtonen made 16 saves out of the 19 shots he faced in the win.

Carolina Hurricanes strike first as Victor Rask scores on a rebound where Lehtonen couldn’t find the puck for a 1-0 lead at the 4:06 mark in the first period. Curtis Mckenzie backdoors the puck after receiving a pass from Shawn Horcoff that tied the game up at 1-1 at the 7:37 mark in the first period. That was Mckenzie’s 4th goal of the season. Alex Goligoski extends the lead 2-1 in the first period as he scored from the slot after receiving a pass from Cody Eakin at the 10:38 mark in the first period. That was Goligoski’s 4th goal of the season. At the 6:25 mark in the first period, Jason Demers scored from the point to make it 3-1. That was Demer’s 4th goal of the season.

Cody Eakin tipped in an Alex Goligoski shot for a 4-1 lead over the Canes in the third period at 11:37 in the third period. Chris Terry scored on a rebound as the Hurricanes cut the Stars’ lead to 4-2 at the 13:58 mark in the third period Andres Nestrasil with his 6th goal of the season as the Hurricanes cut the lead 4-3 in the third at the 14:46 mark. Patrick Eaves scored the empty net goal for the Stars with 1:10 remaining in the third period that made it 5-3.

The Stars next game is Friday when they face the Washington Capitals for 6pm puck drop.
