Stars Defeat Predators 6-3

The Dallas Stars defeated the Nashville Predators 6-3 Friday night at the American Airlines Center.  

The Stars jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first period on goals by Vernon Fiddler, Loui Eriksson, and Steve Ott.  Nashville came back in the 2nd period with 2 goals before Mike Ribeiro’s wrist shot gave Dallas a 4-2 lead.  Nashville took advantage of a power play to close within 1.  That lasted less than a minute before Jamie Benn added a snap-shot for a 2-goal Dallas cushion.  Michael Ryder closed out the game for the Stars with an empty net goal.

Richard Bachman stopped 34-of-37 shots tonight, earning his fifth win of the season. He has started each of the last seven games, going 5-2-0. Bachman is the first rookie goalie in Dallas Stars history to start seven consecutive games.

Jamie Benn’s goal and assist gives him a five-game point streak (2 goals, 5 assists) and points in six of the last seven games (3g, 5a). Steve Ott’s goal and assist gives him points in four of his last five games (1g, 4a). It marks his first multi-point game of the season, with his last coming Dec. 21 of last season against the Montreal Canadiens. Loui Eriksson’s goal and assist now gives him a five-game point and assist streak (2g, 6a). Mike Ribeiro’s goal and assist gives him points in eight of his last 10 games (3g, 8a). Michael Ryder’s goal and two assists give him a season-long five-game point streak (4g, 3a) and points in six of the last seven games (4g, 4a). It was his second three-point game of the season.  Vernon Fiddler’s goal gives him points in two of the last three games.

The Stars travel to St. Louis Monday for a 6:30pm matchup vs the Blues.
