The Dallas Stars needed 2 3/4 periods to score just one goal Tuesday night against the Rangers, but it was enough to get the win.

Goaltender Richard Bachman earned his first shutout in just his 2nd start.   Bachman is filling in for the injured Kari Lehtonen.  The goalie saved 34 shots to clinch his 2nd win.

Stars defenseman Trevor Daley scored on a wrist shot late in the game with an assist by Mike Ribeiro and Brenden Morrow.  It is Daley’s 3rd goal of the season.

Bachman’s teammates are not surprised at his success, “We’re really not that surprised. He’s shown every time he’s been up and the last two years in the exhibitions, he’s been great. He’s living up to it,” said Daley.

The Stars are 17-11-1 and in first place in the Pacific Division.  Dallas stays in New York to play the Islanders on Thursday.
