Stars Lose Shootout In Buffalo

The Buffalo Sabres won their 3rd consecutive game Saturday night with a 3-2 shootout victory over the visiting Dallas Stars.  Dallas falls to 0-5-2 in their last 7 trips to Buffalo.

The Stars took a 1-0 lead in the opening period on a power play goal by Michael Ryder with assists by Alex Goligoski and Loui Eriksson.  Neither team could generate a point in the 2nd period.

Dallas opened the 3rd period with a goal by Tomas Vincour to take a 2-0 lead.  Jamie Benn and Steve Ott assisted.

The Sabres rallied for 2 goals in the period to send the game to overtime, where neither team could score.

Brad Boyes found the goal for Buffalo to open the shootout.  The Stars responded with a goal by Jamie Benn.  Nathan Gerbe put the Sabres on top, leaving only Michael Ryder with a chance to tie.Ryder’s shot missed, leaving the Stars with the loss.

Dallas goaltender Kari Lehtonen stopped 30 of 32 shots on the night.

The Stars have Saturday off before returning home to the American Airlines Center to host Los Angeles on Sunday.
