NEWARK, N.J. — Goaltender Cory Schneider made 26 saves and right winger Michael Ryder scored the game’s lone goal as the New Jersey Devils emerged with a 1-0 victory over the Dallas Stars on Thursday night at Prudential Center.

The win ended the Devils’ three-game losing streak. The Stars have lost four in a row, all in regulation.

Schneider posted his third shutout of the season and third win since Nov. 30. Stars goaltender Kari Lehtnonen was the hard-luck loser, stopping 33 shots.

Ryder broke a scoreless tie at 8:17 in the second period, whipping a quick shot from the slot to put the Devils ahead 1-0. Center Travis Zajac set the play up with a pass from behind the net and Ryder finished for his 15th goal of the season.

The Stars had a chance to knot the score late in the period when they were awarded a four-minute power play as a result of right winger Stephen Gionta’s double-minor penalty for high sticking. The Devils’ penalty killers were up to the task as Schneider turned aside three shots with his team short-handed.

Stars center Tyler Seguin had one of the better chances to tie the score in the third period, but his wrist shot off a faceoff with 3:20 remaining was stopped by Schneider.
