Stars Lose To The Blues

The Dallas Stars fell to the St Louis Blues 4-3 Saturday night at the American Airlines Center.  The Stars were playing without key first line starters who missed the game with injuries.  Things did not get better during the game as the injuries continued to rack up.  Backup goalkeeper Cristopher Nilsport, who was forced to start for Kari Lehtonen, had to leave the game in the third period with a groin injury.  Lehtonen was able to come into the game and saved all shots he faced.

The Stars fell behind early, as Wade Redden hit on a slapshot 5 1/2 minutes into the game.  Dallas responded quickly, with a wrist shot by Tomas Vincour to tied the game.  The Stars took the lead at the 12:40 mark on a power play goal by Michael Ryder.

The second period belonged to St. Louis.  David Perron scored a pair of goals and Chris Stewart added another to give the Blues a 4-2 lead heading into the final frame.

Dallas pulled within 1 on a wrist shot by Ryan Garbutt early in the third, but could

never get the tying goal past Jaroslav Halek, who stopped 20 of 23 shots for St. Louis.

Dallas travels to Columbus on Monday, when they hope to get Jaromir Jagr and Derek Roy back from injury, as well as Jamie Benn, who just signed with the team late last week.
