The Dallas Stars ended a contract stalemate with restricted free agent defenseman Brenden Dillon on Thursday when they reached a deal on a one-year, $1.25 million contract.

Dillon has missed all of training camp and the Stars’ six preseason games while holding out in the contract dispute.

Last season, the 23-year-old scored 17 points, including a career-best six goals, in 80 games and led the Stars in hits (168) and was second in blocked shots (149).

With the regular-season opener against the Chicago Blackhawks a week away, the Stars reduced their roster to 23 on Thursday.

The Stars’ roster currently, minus Dillon, includes seven defenseman – Trevor Daley, Alex Goligoski, Sergei Gonchar, Kevin Connauton, Patrik Nemeth, Jamie Oleksiak and Jordie Benn.
