Stars Shutout Ducks

Unlike so many professional athletes who seem to disappear after signing a big contract, Alex Goligoski came up big for the Dallas Stars in a 1-0 win Tuesday night against the Anaheim Ducks.  Goligoski scored the only goal of the game to give the Stars the victory.  Goligoski on Monday signed a 4-year contract extension worth $18.4 million (see story here).

Dallas has not lost a home game in regulation to Anaheim since Oct. 26, 2010 (2-5 L).  The Stars have not lost a game this season when up after two periods (13-0-0 record). In fact, the Stars have not been defeated in regulation when leading after two periods since Oct. 31, 2009 (vs. NSH). Since then, the Stars have compiled a 54-0-5 record.

For the first time in Dallas Stars history, the club won without registering a power-play opportunity.

Kari Lehtonen earned his first shutout since April 5, 2011, against the Columbus Blue Jackets (33-game span). It marked his 18th career shutout.

This was the last game prior to the NHL All-Star Break for the Stars.  Dallas goes into the break with a 25-21-2 record, 3rd in the Pacific Division.
