Stars win another shootout

The Dallas Stars won in a shootout for the 2nd time in 3 games on Monday night against the San Jose Sharks.

Dallas opened the game with a wrist shot by Jamie Benn to take a 1-0 lead in the 1st period.  San Jose scored twice in a span of 2 minutes in the 2nd period before Mike Ribeiro tied the game late in the 2nd.  Neither team could produce a goal in the final regulation period.

Jamie Benn and Brad Richards both scored goals in the shootout to give Dallas the victory.

Andrew Raycroft, still playing for injured goalie Kari Lehtonen, made 31 saves.  “Andrew showed he’s a professional,” Dallas coach Marc Crawford said. “He made a couple of huge saves for us. He keeps showing the ability to rise to the occasion.”

The Stars will return home Saturday for another game with the Sharks.
