The Dallas Stars handed the Washington Capitals their first home loss of the season in a 5-2 Stars win on Tuesday night.  Dallas improves to 11-3 on the season, best in the NHL.

Michael Ryder scored 2 goals for Dallas in the 1st period.  “We knew this trip was a big trip for us,” said Ryder. “We wanted to make sure we got off to a good start the last game, and we did that. Tonight we wanted to make sure we kept it going. We knew we were playing a good team and we had to come out strong. We did that and we kept going for a full 60 minutes. We came up with the win.”

The 3rd period was all Stars, as Adam Burish, Jamie Benn, and Eric Nystrom all scored goals for Dallas.

Goaltender Kari Lehtonen saved 30 of 32 shots.  Lehtonen praised his team’s 3rd period play, “It was really nice to see how we outworked them in the third. It was fairly easy for me, I think I had two saves at the halfway mark and we had scored three goals already. That made it easier for me.”

The Stars continue their road trip on Friday in Pittsburgh.
