FORT WORTH – A pair of San Francisco pitchers held TCU to just two hits Saturday afternoon as the Dons evened the series with a 3-0 win. Brett Johnson and Derek Odell were the lone Horned Frogs that recorded hits.

Brandon Finnegan tossed the first three innings for the Frogs. He allowed two hits, walked one and struck out one. Trevor Seidenberger (1-2) was charged with the loss after allowing two runs on three hits in three innings of work. Justin Scharf was touched for a run on a hit in three innings on the mound.

Finnegan played with fire in the second inning as he issued a one-out walk to Mitchell Rowan. A single followed putting two on with one out. Finnegan escaped the jam, getting an inning-ending double play off the bat of Brendan Hendriks.

More trouble followed in the third as Josh Miller opened the inning with a base hit and was standing on second with one out. Jantzen Witte hauled in a line drive for the second out and Cody Jones saved a run as he reached behind himself to corral a sinking line drive for the final out.

TCU had a chance to take the lead in third after Keaton Jones worked a lead-off walk. Two batters later, Jones was standing on third when Boomer White hit a blooper towards left field. Shortstop Josh Miller lunged to make the catch, robbing White to end the inning.

Another opportunity to take the lead in the fifth went by the wayside as the Frogs left the

bases loaded. Kevin Cron worked a lead-off walk and moved to second on an Odell base hit. With one out, Jerrick Suiter was hit by the pitch to load the bases. Dons’ starting pitcher Alex Balog got back-to-back ground balls to end the inning with the game still scoreless.

San Francisco finally broke the scoreless tie with two outs in the sixth. Turner lined a home run down the left field line for a 1-0 lead. Rowan followed with a single and was standing on third after a double by Bob Cruikshank. A wild pitch allowed Rowan to score for a 2-0 lead.

The Dons added to their lead in the top of the seventh as they took advantage of a lead-off double by Miller. TCU brought the infield in with Miller standing on third and one out. The Frogs got the ground ball, but the throw home was high and Miller scored to make it a 3-0 game.

TCU falls to 14-17 overall with the loss. The Frogs will go for the series win on Sunday afternoon at 1. Andrew Mitchell will make his third start of the season.
