TCU Falls To No. 15 Oklahoma State

FORT WORTH—Sophomore guard Kyan Anderson scored in double figures for the career-high fifth straight game Wednesday, but No. 15 Oklahoma State proved to be too sharp on offense, downing TCU by a 64-47 count at Daniel-Meyer Coliseum.
The loss dropped TCU’s overall season record to 10-18, including 1-14 in Big 12 play. OSU improved to 21-6 overall and 11-4 in the league standings with its fifth-straight road victory.
The Cowboys singed the nets against the Horned Frogs, finishing the contest with a 55.1 percent shooting rate, the highest for a TCU opponent this season. While OSU was hot, the Frogs struggled, making only 27.3 percent of their shots.
Leading by just three points with five minutes remaining in the first half, OSU finished off the stanza with a nice run to put the Frogs in a big halftime hole. The Cowboys scored 12 of the final 13 points of the half to take a 38-24 advantage into the locker room, then totaled the opening eight points of the second period to push their lead to 44-24.
TCU was held to just a single free throw by senior forward Adrick McKinney during a combined stretch of more than 10 minutes between the two halves. Anderson ended the Frogs’ drought with a 3-pointer with 14:33 remaining. TCU was able to close the gap to 14 points following a dunk by
senior guard Nate Butler Lind with 9:07 left, but the squad was unable to scratch any closer.
Anderson sank 6-of-12 field-goal attempts, including 3-of-7 from 3-point range, while totaling 15 points. It marked his fifth-straight game in double figures, extending his personal-best streak. He led the Frogs in scoring for the eighth time, matching senior guard/forward Garlon Green for the team season lead.
Sophomore forward Devonta Abron just missed a double-double for the second straight game, totaling 12 points and a game-high nine rebounds. He went 8-of-10 at the free-throw line, career bests in both categories. Senior forward Adrick McKinney and Butler Lind added eight and seven rebounds, respectively, as the Frogs outrebounded the Cowboys by a 34-30 margin.
Forward Le’Bryan Nash fueled OSU’s hot offensive night, totaling 28 points on 12-of-16 shooting. The 28 points marked the most scored by a TCU opponent this season. Guard Marcus Smart added nine points and game highs of five assists and three steals.
Wednesday’s contest marked the 125th career appearance by Green, tying him with former Frog Femi Ibikunle (2003-07) for the TCU career record for games played. Green finished with four points in his 106th consecutive appearance.
TCU returns to the road Saturday when it begins a two-game road stretch at Texas Tech. The matchup with the Red Raiders, which will be broadcast by the Big 12 Network, is scheduled to tip off at 3 p.m.
