The TCU Horned Frogs could not overcome the distraction of losing their starting quarterback as they fell to the Iowa State Cyclones 37-23 at Amon G. Carter Stadium.

The loss ended the nation’s longest winning streak at 12.  It also ended a streak of 25 conference victories by the Horned Frogs.

Redshirt Freshman Trevone Boykin was forced into the starting quarterback role and completed 23 of 40 passes for 270 yards.  It is the most yards passing by a freshman since Andy Dalton in 2007.  Boykin also rushed for 39 yards.  He was intercepted 3 times.

A host of runners for TCU added up to 185 yards on the ground, led by B.J. Catalon with 86 yards.

TCU outgained Iowa State 455 yards to 350, but the turnovers gave the win to the Cyclones.  “You look at this one and you know how we got beat. You can’t give up big plays on defense and you can’t give the ball up on offense,” said coach Gary Patterson.

TCU will have a big decision to make regarding suspended quarterback Casey Pachall before Saturday’s game at Baylor.
