The TCU Horned Frogs came to Dallas and beat the SMU Mustangs 24-16 Saturday night at Gerald J. Ford Stadium.  The No. 15 ranked Frogs extended their nation-leading winning streak to 12 games, exacting revenge on the last team to beat them.

The game was played in a rainstorm, leading to several miscues by both teams.  “Whoever didn’t screw it up was going to win this game,” TCU coach Gary Patterson said. “I’m not sure we didn’t screw it up more and just didn’t get lucky.”

SMU quarterback Garrett Gilbert was intercepted 5 times in the game.   Gilbert completed just 15 of 40 attempts for 190 yards.

The TCU offense did not fare much better, as they were held to under 200 yards for the first time since 2006.  TCU had 4 fumbles, losing 2.

TCU quarterback Casey Pachall completed 10 of 26 passes for 107 yards and 2 touchdowns.  In all four games this season the Frogs have made more yards passing than rushing.   Pachall has passed for at least 2 touchdowns in every game this year.

SMU running back Zach Line was held to just 49 yards rushing in the contest.  Line is 5th among active players in the NCAA with 3255 rushing yards.

TCU returns home next week to host Iowa State.  SMU will travel to El Paso for a night game against UTEP.
