What’s wrong with the Cowboys?

The Dallas Cowboys are 0-2 following a home loss to the Chicago Bears.  Unlike the first game, a loss to the hated Redskins where the Cowboys had an easy villain in Alex Barron, this time Dallas has a whole organization to blame.

The Cowboys’ management, coaches, and players all can take blame for the sorry start to the season.  Poor decisions, sloppy play, and general lack of execution are abundant.  For a team that was expected to contend for a Super Bowl championship, the output on the field has been purely unacceptable.

The defense is not creating turnovers or getting stops at critical moments.  Though they stopped the run, a mediocre quarterback like Cutler achieved a 136.7 passer rating, nearly perfect.  This defense has got to improve for the Cowboys to succeed.

The offense seems to believe in all the hype about their explosiveness.  They seem to think they can score at will.   The fact is the offense struggled all preseason and has continued to struggle in the regular season.  Though they show sparks, and flashes of greatness, they cannot sustain a drive.  Dallas has had the ball 21 times this season with only 2 touchdowns to show for it.  Most of these drives were stalled with penalties and turnovers.  This is not a recipe for winning.

If the Cowboys are going to have any success this season, they need to start with their attitude and realize just wearing the star on your helmet does not mean the other team is going to run away and forfeit.
