Wings Lose At Minnesota

Lindsay Whalen scored 22 points, and the Minnesota Lynx hammered short-handed Dallas 93-56 on Saturday at Target Center.

The Lynx took control with a 36-4 run that stretched from midway through the first quarter into the second quarter. The Wings didn’t score in the first five minutes of the second quarter and trailed 58-32 at halftime.

Dallas was without star forward Glory Johnson, who missed Saturday’s game with a toe injury on her right foot suffered in the Wings’ overtime loss to Atlanta on Friday. Veteran forward Plenette Pierson also missed the game. Pierson is in the WNBA’s concussion protocol.

Whalen hit 11 of 13 shots, and the Lynx shot 52.6 percent from the floor. Sylvia Fowles finished with 14 points, and Maya Moore added 12 points for the Lynx.

Minnesota (16-4) has won three of four, since dropping three straight, after their record start to the season that saw the Lynx win 13 straight games to open year.

The Wings (9-12) managed just six points and have dropped five of their last seven games. Aerial Powers and Erin Phillips each finished with nine points for Dallas.

Minnesota outscored Dallas 46-16 in the paint and outrebounded the Wings 51-25.
