2009 Dallas Cowboys Preview, Part 1

This is the first of a four part preview of the Dallas Cowboys 2009 season.  Each part will look at a quarter of the season and predict the Cowboys record for the year.

Coming off a disappointing 9-7 season, the Cowboys hope to rebound and show that the 13-3 record of just 2 years ago was no fluke. With a new home, the $1.2 Cowboys Stadium in Arlington, Dallas hopes to regain it’s crown as the most prestigious team in professional sports.

The Cowboys open the season on the road at Tampa Bay.  This should be a good start for the ‘Boys as they will win this one.  The Buccaneers will be no match for Dallas on either side of the ball.

The 2nd game of the year is the home opener. The nationally televised Sunday night game against the New York Giants. Owner Jerry Jones will be pulling out all the stops to have his team open the new stadium with a victory.  Unfortunately for the Cowboys, this will not be an easy task. The Giants are the defending NFC East champions and would like nothing more than to spoil the day by beating the Cowboys. Still, I’ve got to believe the Cowboys will find a way to win this one.

Game 3 is another home game for the Cowboys, facing the Carolina Panthers on Monday Night Football.  I’m expecting a bit of a letdown following last week’s emotional game.  Dallas does not seem to play well against the Panthers and gets the first loss at home.

The Cowboys travel to the mile high city for a game against the Denver Broncos in week 4.  Dallas will be flying high as they handily win on the road to make their first quarter record a nice 3-1.
