2009 French Open Day 5

It was a good day to be a seeded player at Roland-Garros. Federer, Roddick, Tsonga, Del Potro, and Davydenko all won and move to the 3rd Round.

On the women’s side, Serena Williams, Venus Williams, Elena Dementieva, Jelena Jankovic, Svetlana Kuznetsova, and Caroline Wozniacki are all top-10 seeds who moved to the next round.

Only Roddick and Del Potro won in straight sets in the men’s bracket, while only Venus Williams gave up a set for the top women.

In 1st Round men’s doubles action, the top USA team of Bob and Mike Bryan defeated another USA team of Robby Ginepri and Robert Kendrick. The Bryan brothers are seeded #2.

In women’s doubles, the 5th seeded Williams sisters won, as did the other seeded teams.

It was a good day to be seeded and be a sibling.
