2010 French Open Day 6

Thanks to yesterday’s rain, Day 6 became the busiest day of all at the French Open.  9 of the top-10 men were in action, with the high seed winning each match.  Roger Federer (1) and Rafael Nadal (2)  were both in action and continued their mastery of the clay.

The women’s draw was just as full, with 6 top-10 seeds in action including the Williams sisters.  Serena (1) and Venus (2) both easily won their matches in straight sets.  No. 3 Caroline Wozniacki and No. 5 Elena Dementieva each advanced to the 4th round.

The upset of the day was No. 30 Maria Kirilenko over the defending champion, No. 6 Svetlana Kuznetsova in 3 sets.

Maria Sharapova (12) advanced to the 3rd round, where she will meet Justine Henin (22) in a clash of former World No 1’s.
