Southlake Carroll (12-0) had to come from behind to pull out a win over Arlington Bowie (9-3) in the regional semi-finals. The first half belonged to Bowie, but the second half was a different story.

Arlington Bowie scored first with 5:52 remaining in the first quarter after a 32-yard run by senior running back Russell Hansbrough. Southlake continued it’s pattern of three and out as the Bowie defense smothered any attempt by Carroll to get their offense moving. At the end of the first quarter, Bowie was leading 7 to 0.

With 4:02 remaining in the second quarter, Arlington Bowie’s quarterback, Kolby Listenbee rushed for 15-yards to give the Volunteer’s a two touchdown lead. It looked like the game was getting away from Southlake when Jose Jara, of Arlington Bowie, kicked a 47-yard field goal with 47 seconds remaining in the first half, to put Bowie ahead 17 to 0. Up until this time, the Southlake Carroll offense had only managed to get one first down and just 41-yards of total offense.

With seconds remaining before the half, Southlake QB Kenny Hill completed a 54-yard pass to senior wide-receiver Sabian Holmes. At halftime, Arlington Bowie was leading 17 to 7.

Southlake received the ball at the start of the third quarter and mounted a seven play drive which culminated in a 5-yard TD run by QB Kenny Hill. With 9:40 remaining in the third quarter, Carroll had pulled to within three points of Bowie. The score remained 17 to 14, with Bowie on top, until Southlake was able to put together a 14 play drive which ended with a 1-yard TD run by Hill. With less than a minute remaining in the third quarter, Southlake took a 21 to 17 lead.

Arlington Bowie started the fourth quarter with their longest drive of the game. Starting on their own 32-yard line they used eight plays to move the ball to the Southlake 28. On fourth and seven, Bowie failed to complete their pass and Carroll took over on downs. Neither team could score as time ran out. The final score was Southlake Carroll 21 and Arlington Bowie 17. Southlake (13-0) will play Arlington Martin (12-1) next week in the regional final.
