Charles Schwab Challenge Round 2 Recap

The second round of the Charles Schwab Challenge at Colonial Country Club was a day of bounce backs from marquee names in the field and unpredictable Texas weather throwing some curveballs, with lightning causing delays on Friday.

Here are some key takeaways:

Leader Board Shakeup: Davis Riley emerged as the leader after carding a 10-under par, putting him two strokes ahead of Hayden Buckley and Pierceson Cody who are tied for second.

Local Favorites Rebound: After struggling on Thursday, both Scottie Scheffler and Jordan Spieth bounced back with solid second rounds. Scheffler shot a bogey-free 65 that included a chip in to save par on No. 9 to close out his round. Spieth started hot with birdies on five of his first six holes before settling for a 3-under par total.

Woodland Makes a Charge: Gary Woodland, who has battled health issues this year, showcased his talent with a scorching 8-under par 64, his best round in over two years.

Cut Made: The field was trimmed after the second round, with the cut line being at +2. Notables who missed the cut include Max Homa, last year’s PGA Championship star Michael Block, Harris English and Colonial member Ryan Palmer.

The weekend is set up for a thrilling finish at the newly re-vamped Colonial.
