Cowboys Get Whipped By Eagles

The Dallas Cowboys received a good old fashioned butt-whipping at the hands of the Eagles on Sunday night in Philadelphia.  The Cowboys were outgunned in every aspect of the game in the 34-7 loss.

Philadelphia scored on it’s first 6 possessions, with drives ranging from 68 to 95 yards.  The Eagles held the ball for 42 minutes of the game.  During the first half, Philadelphia converted 83% of third down plays, while Dallas converted none.

The Dallas defense, best in the NFC against the rush coming into the game, gave up 239 yards rushing, 185 by Eagles running back LeSean McCoy.  Coordinator Rob Ryan, who earlier in the year referred to the Eagles as “all-hype” and stated the Cowboys would “kick their ass”, was made to look silly by the Eagles offense.    Michael Vick threw for 279 yards and 2 touchdowns, while rushing for 50 yards.  Tight end Brent Celek led the Eagles receivers with 7 catches for 94 yards and a touchdown.

Offensively, the Cowboys could not get anything going.  Their only score came late in the game on a 70 yard touchdown catch and run by Laurent Robinson.  Running back DeMarco Murray, in his first NFL start ran for 74 yards on 8 carries, but Dallas was playing from behind too much to take advantage of the ground game.

Quarterback Tony Romo was pressured the entire game and was sacked 4 times.  Romo completed 18 of 35 passes for 203 yards.

A bright spot for the Cowboys was linebacker DeMarcus Ware, who sacked Michael Vick 4 times and led the team with 11 tackles, 10 of them solo.

The only turnover in the game was an interception when Dallas tight end Martellus Bennett bobbled a pass into the hands of Eagles cornerback Nnamdi Asomugha.

The Cowboys drop to 3-4 on the season, tied with the Redskins and Eagles.
