Dallas Mavericks 102 – New Jersey Nets 89

The Dallas Mavericks extended their winning streak to 11 with a domination of the New Jersey Nets Thursday night.  Dallas has never lost to New Jersey at the American Airlines Center (10-0).

Dirk Nowitzki entered Thursday’s game shooting a career-best 55.3 percent from the field (ranked 13th in the NBA). He made his first 8-of-9 shots and finished 8-for-10 from the floor on the night enroute to a team-high 21 points. It marked his 18th 20-point performance of the season. Nowitzki added 10 rebounds in the game, giving him his seventh double-double of the season (349th career).

J.J. Barea came off the bench to dish out a career-high 13 assists.  His previous high assist total was 12, which he recorded vs. Toronto on 11/7/09.

Small forwards Shawn Marion and Caron Butler led the way for Dallas in the first half. Marion recorded 14 points on 6-of-6 shooting (2-of-2 from the line) and added three rebounds in the first 24 minutes for the Mavs. Butler tallied 13 points (6-9 FGs, 1-1 FTs), three rebounds, four assists and two blocks before the break. Marion finished with 18 points (8-10 FGs, 2-2 FTs), six rebounds and a season-high four steals on the night, while Butler recorded 15 points (7-11 FGs, 1-1 FTs), four rebounds, four assists and two blocks in 27 minutes.

 

 

Dallas shot 41-for-75 from the field, matching a season high at 54.7 percent. Marion and Nowitzki were 8-for-10 each and Butler was 7-for-11.
