Dallas Teams Sweep USTA Texas Championships
The 2013 USTA Texas Tri-Level Sectional Championships were held from Feb. 15-17 in Kingwood Texas. Tri-Level is a three doubles format. Dallas swept the championships in each division this year.
Ladies 4.0 & Under
Wild Dallas out-paced Dallas with a 2-0 finals record to win the 2013 USTA Texas Tri-Level 4.0 & Under Ladies Championship title. Wild Dallas won its Flight with a 3-0 record and Wild Dallas was captained by Claudia Urbani and the team included Kathy Albers, Farah Ashmore, Lisa Alexander, Jennifer Butcher, Casey Carlson, Teresa Hawk, Robyn Krivacic, Eve Liu, Anne Savino, Christy Vutam and Claudia Zandomeni.
Men 4.0 & Under
Dallas defeated Southeast Texas (SETX) 3-0 to win the 2013 USTA Texas Tri-Level 4.0 & Under Men’s Championship title. Dallas was captained by Rene Alzuro and the team included Michael Berkstresser, Dakota Clifton, Jason Davis, George Love, Dean Quandahl, Kevin Smith, Paul Trippett and John Wendelken.
Ladies 4.5 & Under
Dallas defeated Austin to win the 2013 USTA Texas Tri-Level 4.5 & Under Ladies Championship. The Dallas team entered the finals by winning its flight 3-1 edging out Fort Worth, while Austin won its flight 4-0 ahead of Houston. The Dallas team was captained by Bea Demel and the team included Alisa Bennett, Wendy Blackwell, Erin Flowers, Becky Griffith, Yoying Johnson, Jana Labra, Lauren Peacock, Kelly Pearson, Susan Rogina, Claire Stone, Wendy Von Drechsel and Karen Wyatt.
Men​ 4.5 & Under
Dallas defeated Fort Worth 2-1 in the finals to win the 2013 USTA Texas Tri-Level 4.5 & Under Men’s Championship title. Dallas went a perfect 3-0 winning its flight over SETX and faced Fort Worth who won its flight 2-1 edging out Houston by only losing six sets in the flight. The Dallas team was captained by Wesley Pickett and the team included Keith Clark, Michael Kelly, Vince Kingsley, Jacques Mbede, Jason Moore, Johan Mudsam, Tim Newman, Hai Hguyen, Doug Voss, Owen Wilson and Jeffery Yarbrough.
