Denton Guyer Tops Marcus
Denton Guyer rolled into Marauder Stadium in Flower Mound and crushed Marcus 27-14.
Guyer racked up over 300 yards rushing in the game, led by D.J. Breedlove, Richard Whitaker, and Jerrod Heard. Breedlove ran for 119 yards on 15 carries, just edging Whitaker, who totaled 111 yards on 18 carries. Heard just missed the century mark with 92 yards on 14 carries.
Marcus was held to just 66 yards on the ground, 41 coming from Wyatt Verret on 10 carries. A trio of passers for Marcus accounted for 114 yards through the air.
Interestingly, it was the Marcus defense who made a big goal line stand. With Guyer 1st and goal from the 1 yard line, Marcus held and turned back Guyer on 4 attempts.
Overall, the Guyer defense was too fast and too strong for the Marauders. The Wildcats kept the Marcus offense off the field with long drives and forced the Marauders into 3-and-out 6 times.
Guyer improves to 1-2 on the season while Marcus drops to 0-3.
