Dreadful Cowboys season ends

The Dallas Cowboys put an end to the nightmare that was 2010 with a 14-13 victory in Philadelphia.  Playing a 3rd-string quarterback against a 2nd-string defense, the game resembled a preseason matchup.  Well, maybe not a Dallas preseason game since it did go into the win column.

Dallas quarterback Stephen McGee made his first NFL start in place of injured Jon Kitna, who would have played in place of injured Tony Romo.  McGee completed 11 of 27 passes for 127 yards, not bad considering the amount of pressure he was under all day.  McGee was also forced to run 9 times for 55 yards.  He was sacked twice.

The only Cowboy to rush more times than McGee was Felix Jones, who had 81 yards on 11 carries.

The 2nd-team defensive line dominated the woeful  Dallas offensive line for most of the game.

Miles Austin only had 2 catches, but each one was 31 yards as he went

over 1000 yards receiving for the 2nd consecutive year.

Jason Witten led the team with 6 catches, all in the 4th quarter, including the touchdown reception to give the Cowboys the lead with a minute left to play.

The Cowboys defense did a good job on 3rd downs, allowing the Eagles to only convert 25%.  DeMarcus Ware had 3 sacks and a fumble recovery, which he took 17 yards for a touchdown.

Dallas finishes the year at 6-10, perhaps the most disappointing season in Dallas Cowboys history.  The Cowboys were expected to go to the Super Bowl in their own stadium.  They may, but they will be driving their own cars rather than riding the team bus.

This offseason should be interesting, to say the least.  With more questions than will probably be answered, one can only guess what to expect next year.  Who will be the coach?  Who will be returning?  Who will they draft?  I expect to see a lot of new faces wearing the star next September.
