DALLAS, TX — Nineteen-year-old Mitchell Krueger proved Sunday that he could hang with the vets. Krueger grinded out a gutsy 7-6 (5), 4-6, 6-3 victory over No.8 seed Carsten Ball to move one step closer to earning a spot in the main draw of the Challenger of Dallas. Ball made it to the Challenger of

Dallas Singles Final in 2010, losing to Ryan Sweeting.

A rookie on the pro circuit, Krueger will need to get past another young player looking to make his mark as he prepares to go against 21-year-old Alex Domijan. Domijan had an impressive win of his own on Sunday, upsetting No.4 -seeded German Tim Puetz 6-3, 6-7(5), 7-6(9). Domijan and Krueger will square off on Stadium Court Monday at approximately 12pm.

The day of upsets continued as Daniel Nguyen knocked off No.2 seed and Wisconsin Badger Marek Michalicka 7-5, 6-3 while Mac Styslinger rolled past No.3 seed Chase Buchanan. Also battling for one of the four qualifier openings in the main draw will be No.1 seed Alex Bogdanovic, who will be taking on a relatively fresh Jarmere Jenkins. Jenkins went about his business Sunday taking out

Sasha Ermakov 6-3, 6-0.

In qualifying doubles, Nicolas Meister and Sekou Bangoura were more than former touring pros Joey Rive and Byron Talbot could handle in a 6-3, 6-3 win. Bangoura and Meister will meet Tim Puetz and Moritz Baumann in the qualifying final Monday on Court One at approximately 6pm. Puetz/Baumann battled for a 6-4, 6-7(6), 10-2 victory Sunday over Adham El-Effendi and Darren Walsh.
