Lakers win 2010 NBA Championship
|The L.A. Lakers won their 2nd consecutive and 16th overall NBA Championship with an 83-79 victory over the Boston Celtics in Game 7 of the NBA Finals.
Although Boston jumped out to an early lead, stretching it all the way to 13-points by the end of the 3rd, the Lakers never looked or felt concerned. Los Angeles only shot 32.5 percent from the field, Kobe Bryant never got on track, shooting only 6 for 24, yet the Lakers managed to control the boards and make shots when they counted most. Los Angeles outscored Boston 30-22 in the final period, with a lot of help from the free throw line. In the final period, Boston could not stop the Lakers without fouling, giving Los Angeles 21 attemts, making 16, from the line.
Despite his low output in the finale, Kobe Bryant was named Finals MVP. For this game, Lakers Coach Phil Jackson pointed out Ron Artest as the most valuable player, “He brought life to our team, he brought life to the crowd.”
