The Lancaster Tigers used a dominating ground game to defeat  the Pirates of Mesquite Poteet Friday night at Eagles Stadium in Allen 21-13.  Lancaster will advance to the UIL 4A Division 2 Semi-Finals against Wichita Falls Rider.

Lancaster rode the trio of Demarcus Ayers, Nick Harvey, and Joseph Paden as they racked up 292 yards on 46 rushes.  The Tigers could only muster 79 yards passing, but it was enough as the Lancaster defense held Poteet to just 1 touchdown.

It was six plays into the 4th offensive possession before either team could complete a pass.   12 of Poteet quarterback Tanner Ramsey’s 19 completions came in the 2nd half.  Ramsey would finish the game with 232 yards passing and 58 yards rushing.

Poteet’s fought the entire game, mounting a final drive with 1:17 left in the game and 8-points down.  10 plays later, their season ended 4 yards short of the end zone on a last second pass to Nathaniel Gaines, his 3rd catch of the drive.
