Lisicki On A Roll At Texas Tennis Open

Sabine Lisicki, the 5th seed at the Texas Tennis Open, continues to win at ease in the 100+ degree temperatures at the Grapevine, TX event.  Lisicki advanced to the quarterfinals with a straight set win over Alberta Brianti.  Fellow German player Julia Goerges, the 3rd seed at the tournament did not fare so well.  Goerges was upset in a 3rd set tiebreak by Elena Baltacha of Great Britain.  Baltacha broke Goerges 7 times during the match, and won the tiebreak easily, 7-2.

Also advancing to the quarterfinals is Johanna Larsson of Sweden, who upset the 6th seed, Shahar Peer of Israel in straight sets.

8th seed Irina-Camelia Begu dispatched the top South American player Gisela Dulko in straight sets.

Qualifyer Aravane Rezai needed three sets to beat Magdalena Rybarikova.

In doubles action, Liga Dekmeijere and American Megan Moulton-Levy defeated Angelique Kerber and Anastasiya Yakimova.  The final match of the evening was Alberta Brianti and Sorana Cirstea winning against the sister team of Kateryna and Alona Bondarenko in a closely conteded tiebreak.
