Lisicki, Rezai In Final at Texas Tennis Open

Sabine Lisicki continued her dominating run at the Texas Tennis Open with a 6-0, 6-1 win over Romania’s Irina-Camelia Begu in 53 minutes on Friday.  The German has lost just 10 games over 4 matches headed into today’s final.  Lisicki won 72% of the total points in her semifinal match.

Lisicki will face qualifier Aravane Rezai of France, who advanced to the final with a 3-set win over another German, Angelique Kerber.  Rezai’s path to the final has been quite a bit more difficult than Lisicki’s.  In addition to the two additional days of qualifying, Rezai has fought through two 3-set matches and a tiebreak.

In doubles, the unseeded team of Alize Cornet and Pauline Parmentier, both of France, will face another unseeded team, Sorana Cirstea and Alberta Brianti.  This is the first time Cirstea and Brianti have played together, having decided to team up while on the plane to Dallas.

The doubles final will start at noon today, followed by the singles final at the DFW Hilton Lakes Hotel in Grapevine.
