Mavericks 127, Knicks 109

The Dallas Mavericks recorded a season-high 127 points in the 127-109 victory over the New York Knicks on Thursday (previous 120 at Denver on 2/10/11). The Mavericks improved to 36-3 when they reach the century mark.  It is the Mavericks’ fourth game in five nights (went 2-2). With the win, they have now gone 21-4 in their last 25 games (since losing six straight from Jan. 6 to Jan. 17).  With the win, Dallas swept the season series and has now won 17 of the last 19 meetings with New York (including 12 of the last 14 at home).

Dirk Nowitzki led the Mavericks with 23 points, also grabbing 9 rebounds.

Shawn Marion made his second consecutive start (14th of the season) at small forward in place of Peja Stojakovic, who was inactive again due to stiffness in his neck. Marion was listed as questionable before the game with sore ribs after being fouled hard by the Hornets’ Marco Belinelli the previous night at New Orleans (3/9). He tallied 22 points and eight boards vs. New York on Thursday. Dallas improved to 6-1 when he scores 20-plus points in a game.

Brendan Haywood posted 12 points (5-9 FGs, 2-3 FTs), eight boards and two blocks vs. New York. Dallas improved to 6-0 when he scores in double figures.

The Mavericks next game is vs. L.A. Lakers on March 12 at 8:00 p.m. CT.
