Mavericks Beat Rockets 90-81

The Dallas Mavericks beat the Houston Rockets 90-81 Tuesday night at the American Airlines Center.  Dallas trailed by as many as 16 points in the first half but came back to record a 90-81 win. It was the third time this season that Dallas has come back to win a game after trailing by double digits. With the win, the Mavericks took a 2-0 lead in the season series against Houston and extended their winning streak against the Rockets to six games. It marks the longest winning streak by one Texas team against another since Dallas won six straight games against Houston in 2007 (1/16/07-12/15/07). Houston has not defeated Dallas in the regular season since 12/31/09 (defeated Dallas 97-94 at home).

The Mavericks improved to 6-1 at home during the month of March. Dallas is now 19-8 at home on the season.

Dirk Nowitzki recorded a team-high 21 points to go along with six rebounds and three assists in 35 minutes. He is now averaging 26.0 ppg against Houston this season (31 points at Houston 3/24).  

Jason Kidd appeared in his 1,307th career regular-season game against Houston on Tuesday, which moved him into a tie with Buck Williams for 10th place on the NBA’s all-time list for games played. Kidd became the 78th player in NBA history with 17,000 career points in the previous meeting with the Rockets on 3/24.

Rodrigue Beaubois (14), Brandan Wright (13), Jason Terry (12) and Lamar Odom (9) combined for 48 points off the Mavericks’ bench. Dallas’ second-unit outscored Houston’s bench by 31 (48-17) for the game.
