Mavericks Beat The Kings

The Dallas Mavericks defeated the Sacramento Kings 119-96 Monday night at the American Airlines Center.  With the win, the Mavericks recorded their 17th consecutive victory against the Kings at home. The Kings have not defeated the Mavericks in Dallas since 2/27/03 (126-124 in overtime). It’s the Mavericks’ longest active home winning streak against any team.  Dallas has now won three straight games (at Phoenix 12/6-vs. Sacramento 12/10). It marks the second time this season that Dallas has recorded three consecutive wins (also vs. Charlotte 11/3-vs. Toronto 11/7).

Six players scored in double figures for Dallas in the win. It marked the fifth time this season that the Mavericks have had six players in double digits.

Mavericks guard O.J. Mayo entered Monday’s game coming off a 40-point effort at Houston on 12/8 and with 5,001 points in his career. He recorded a team-high 19 points (6-9 FGs, 3-4 3FGs, 4-5 FTs) to go along with a team-high seven rebounds, four assists and one steal in 28 minutes against the Kings. He led Dallas in scoring for the 14th time this season. Dallas improved to 9-3 when he makes at least three 3-pointers in a game this year. Mayo is averaging 27.3 points on 57.7 percent (30-of-52) shooting (.667 3FG, 12-18 3FGs) over his last three games.

Chris Kaman went 9-of-13 from the floor and scored 18 points in just 21 minutes. He is averaging 17.7 points on 65.8 percent (25-of-38) shooting (in just 20.3 minutes) over his last three games.

Mavericks forward Dirk Nowitzki received the Naismith Legacy Award at halftime of tonight’s game. Jim Naismith, the grandson of James Naismith, presented Nowitzki with the award. Nowitzki is the first international-born player to receive the Naismith Legacy Award for his impact on the game around the world.

Mavericks guard Derek Fisher appeared in his 1,178th career regular-season game against the Kings and is now tied with Scottie Pippen for 33rd place on the NBA’s all-time list for games played.
