The Dallas Mavericks lost to the Memphis Grizzlies 94-89 Saturday night in Memphis.

Dirk Nowitzki led the Mavericks with just 17 points on 5 of 16 shooting.  Brandan Wright was the next highest Mavericks scorer, coming off the bench for 16 points.  Vince Carter shot 6 of 8 for 14 points.

Shawn Marion and Jason Terry each added 12 points for Dallas.  Marion also led the team with 11 rebounds.  After the game, Marion was not happy with the 2nd loss in as many nights, “Tough isn’t the word. It’s just frustrating in all aspects. We dug ourselves a big hole. We were playing good defense. We couldn’t hit any shots. If everything could go wrong, it went wrong.”

Delonte West started again for the injured Jason Kidd and scored 8 points.

Dallas is in 8th place in the Western Conference, barely clinging to a playoff spot.  “I’m not a big watcher of the standings, but for anybody that is, it brings to the forefront the urgency of the situation”, said coach Rick Carlisle.

The Mavericks return home Tuesday to host Sacramento at the American Airlines Center.
