Mavs beat Clippers

The Dallas Mavericks defeated the Los Angeles Clippers 107-96 on Friday night.  With the win, the Mavericks snapped a four-game losing streak and recorded their 10th straight victory over the Clippers. They have now won 16 of the last 17 meetings with Los Angeles.

Dallas led by just one (89-88), but used a 14-2 run (from the 7:22 mark of the fourth quarter through the 2:09 mark of the period) to open up a 13-point lead (103-90) en route to the win.

Corey Brewer, who had 13 points vs. Denver on 4/6/11 (most with the Mavericks since signing with the team on 3/3/11), made his second start for Dallas (24th overall) against the Clippers on Friday and tallied 14 points in 18 first-half minutes. He finished with a team-high-tying 20 points to go along with six rebounds, four assists, four steals and one block in 30 minutes. It marked his third 20-point effort this season (first with Dallas). Brewer, who scored a total of 25 points in his first eight games with the Mavericks, has now scored 33 points over the last two contests.

Shawn Marion recorded his second straight double-double (11th of the season) with 13 points, 10 boards, four assists, two steals and one block for Dallas.

Dirk Nowitzki recorded his 50th 20-point effort of the season on Friday. He finished with 20 points, eight rebounds and seven assists in 38 minutes.

The Mavericks host Phoenix on Sunday.
