Mavs Beat Wizards 107-101

The Dallas Mavericks held on to defeat the Washington Wizards 107-101 Wednesday night at the American Airlines Center.  The Mavericks led by 18 to start the 4th quarter, but Washington went on an 18-3 run to close the gap before Dallas shut the door.  The Mavs are 4-1 at home this season.

Mavericks guard O.J. Mayo scored a game-high 25 points (9-15 FGs, 1-3 3FGs, 6-8 FTs) to go along with four assists in 38 minutes. It marked his sixth 20-point effort in his last seven games. He led Dallas in scoring for the sixth time this season (includes ties). Mayo is averaging 24.6 points per game over his last seven games.

Mavericks center Chris Kaman made his second start of the season and scored a season-high 23 points (10-12 FGs, 3-3 FTs) to go along with eight rebounds, three assists, one steal and one block in 32 minutes. It marked his second 20-point effort of the season (his previous scoring high was 22 vs. Toronto 11/7/12). Kaman is shooting 64.4 percent (47-of-73) from the floor this season.

Mavericks forward Elton Brand recorded his first double-double of the season (397th career) with a season-high 11 points and a season-high 12 rebounds in 30 minutes.

Dirk Nowitzki and Shawn Marion were again inactive for Dallas.

The Mavericks next game is at Indiana on Nov. 16 at 6:00 p.m.
