Mavs Fall to Pacers

The Dallas Mavericks fell to the Indiana Pacers 98-87 Friday night at the American Airlines Center.  With the win, the Pacers snapped a seven game road losing streak against the Mavericks.

Dirk Nowitzki scored a game-high-tying 30 points (12-17 FGs, 1-4 3FGs, 5-6 FTs), including 20 in the first half. He made nine of his first 10 shots in the game. Vince Carter (14) and Delonte West (10) were the only other Mavericks in double figures.

Paul George scored a career-high 30 points (11-19 FGs, 7-11 3FGs, 1-1 FTs) to go along with nine rebounds, five assists, five steals and one block in 41 minutes for Indiana.

The Pacers made their first eight shots in the game, but went just 2-of-12 from the field to finish the first quarter.  Dallas trailed, 25-17, but used a 19-4 run (from the 5:17 mark of the first quarter through the 9:38 mark of the second period) to take a 36-29 advantage.  The Mavericks outshot the Pacers 50 percent (23-of-46) to 43.2 percent (19-of-44) in the first half but led by just one (53-52) at the break.  Indiana began the third quarter on a 19-6 run and opened up a 12-point lead (71-59) 7:20 into the start of period.  The Pacers outscored the Mavericks 46-34 in the second half en route to the win.  Indiana outshot Dallas 12-of-25 (.480) to 6-of-16 (.375) from beyond the arc.  Paul George accounted for seven of Indiana’s 12 treys, finishing 7-of-11 from deep.

The Mavericks travel to Cleveland tonight for a game with the Cavaliers.
