Mavs Lose Preseason Game to Magic

The Dallas Mavericks fell 102-94 to the Orlando Magic Monday night at the American Airlines Center.

Mavericks forward Dirk Nowitzki tallied a game-high 24 points on 9-of-14 shooting (2-of-4 3FG) against the Magic on Monday. It was his second consecutive 20-point outing. Nowitzki is averaging 22.0 points on 66.7 percent shooting (.667 3FG) over his last two preseason games.

Mavericks guard Monta Ellis recorded a preseason-high 16 points (5-11 FGs, 1-3 3FGs, 5-6 FTs) to go along with four rebounds, five assists and two steals in 27 minutes against Orlando. Ellis is averaging 13.3 points and 6.7 assists in three preseason games. He is shooting 50 percent (14-of-28) from the field and 50 percent (4-of-8) from 3-point range in the exhibition season.

Magic rookie guard Victor Oladipo posted a double-double with 12 points, a game-high 11 rebounds, four assists and two steals in 26 minutes.

Maurice Harkless (16), E-Twaun Moore (13), Tobias Harris (12), Solomon Jones (11), Kris Joseph (11) and Oladipo (12) all scored in double figures for Orlando in the win.

With the loss, Rick Carlisle moved to 48-36 (.571) all-time in the preseason. The Mavericks moved to 18-18 (.500) in exhibition games under Carlisle, who took over in Dallas prior to the start of the 2008-09 season.

Mavericks guards Jose Calderon (left hamstring strain), Devin Harris (left foot surgery) and Shane Larkin (fractured right ankle) all missed Monday’s preseason game versus Orlando due to injury. Mavericks forward Shawn Marion (rest) also sat against the Magic.
