Mavs Lose Preseason Matchup With Phoenix

The Dallas Mavericks fell to the Phoenix Suns 100-94 in a preseason game at the American Airlines Center on Wednesday night.

Mavericks forward Dirk Nowitzki (right knee effusion) and Mavericks guard Rodrigue Beaubois (sprained left ankle) both sat out for the third straight game.

Mavericks forward Jae Crowder tallied 10 points (4-7 FGs, 1-3 3FGs, 1-2 FTs), six rebounds, five steals and three blocks in 26 minutes off the bench. He became just the second player with five steals in a game this preseason (Eric Bledsoe, L.A. Clippers vs. Denver 10/6/12).

Mavericks center Chris Kaman scored a team-high 16 points (8-12 FGs) for the Mavericks. He has now led the team in scoring in three of the Mavericks’ first four preseason games (includes ties).

Mavericks swingman Vince Carter went 5-of-11 from the field en route to 15 points off the bench. It marked his second straight game with 15 points off the pine (15 vs. Houston 10/15/12). Carter has shot 11-for-21 (.500) from the floor over his last two games. He has scored 14-plus points in three of the Mavericks’ first four preseason games.

Jared Dudley scored a game-high-tying 16 points (7-9 FGs, 2-3 3FGs) for Phoenix in the win.

The Mavericks’ next preseason game is at Atlanta on Oct. 20 at 6 p.m. CT
