Mavs lose to Grizzlies, 103-104

Dallas – The Memphis Grizzlies ended the Dallas Mavericks’ eight-game win streak with a 104-103 win at the American Airlines Center. The loss also snapped the Mavericks’ nine-game home winning streak.  Memphis won the season series 3-1 and is 6-4 in their last 10 meetings with Dallas.

With his first steal at the 9:55 mark of the first quarter, Jason Kidd moved past Gary Payton (2,445) and into third place on the all-time steals list behind Michael Jordan (2,514) and John Stockton (3,265). Kidd has recorded 104 steals in 2010-11 and now has 2,447 for his career.

Shawn Marion tallied his eighth double-double with 10 points and 12 rebounds.

Dallas has recorded 14 games with only one 3-pointer made during that stretch. The last time the Mavericks failed to hit at least one three in a game was on Feb. 26, 1999 (vs. Utah).  The Raptors went 986 consecutive games with at least one 3-pointer made, but had their streak (which began on 2/26/99) come to an end vs. Memphis on Jan. 24, 2011. The Lakers have the second-longest active streak in the NBA. They have gone 627 straight games with at least one 3-point basket (11/18/03-present).
