The Dallas Mavericks fell to the San Antonio Spurs 111-86 on Sunday in Dallas. The Mavericks (12-18) have lost six straight games and are hoping the New Year will mean a revamp of the Mavs team as they have won only five of the fifteen games in December.

The Mavericks battled despite playing from behind for the entire game. San Antonio started the game on a 14-2 run before the Dallas made a run bringing the deficit to as close as three points after a Dirk Nowitzki-assisted two pointer by forward Elton Brand. The three point deficit was the closest chance for a lead that the Mavericks had for the rest of the game.

The Mavericks struggled in shooting in Sunday’s game, managing 40 percent off of 38-of-95 shooting. They suffered in three point range as well, making only 1-of-16 from behind the arch.

Elton Brand of the Mavericks finished the game with a double-double scoring 14 points off of the bench along with 10 rebounds. Point guard Darren Collison led the Mavericks in the game, scoring 18 points and 8 assists, two shy of a double-double.

The Mavericks look to start the New Year off on a win streak as they take on the Washington Wizards on Tuesday. Tip-off is at 5:00 p.m.
