Mavs Make Deal With Dirk

The Dallas Mavericks and Dirk Nowitzki have come to terms on a new three-year deal believed to be worth $30 million, according to multiple sources.

The deal will allow Nowitzki to explore free agency in the summer of 2016 while maintaining a no-trade clause.

Nowitzki has agreed to take s pay cut with the hope the Mavericks will have enough salary cap space to sign free agent forward Carmelo Anthony or other top free agents.

The 36-year-old Nowitzki made $22.72 million in the final year of a four-year, $80 million deal he signed in 2010. He has played all 16 of his NBA seasons with Dallas, leading the Mavs to the 2011 title.

Last year, he averaged 21.7 points and 6.2 rebounds per game.
