The Dallas Mavericks re-signed combo guard Delonte West to one-year deal on Wednesday, finishing out the 15 man roster for the Mavericks. West, 28, adds veteran leadership to a young group of guards. West averaged 9.6 points, 3.2 assists and 2.3 rebounds per game for the Mavericks in only 44 games.

The Mavericks also finished signing their free agents this week. Center Bernard James was the last rookie to sign a contract for the Mavericks. The 27-year-old averaged 10.2 points and 9.0 rebounds in Summer League play in Las Vegas. James will likely be the backup for newly acquired Chris Kaman and Elton Brand.

The Mavericks signed rookies Jae Crowder and first round pick Jared Cunningham last week, The terms of the rookie contracts have not been disclosed. Crowder was a standout star for the Mavericks during the Summer League this year and looks to bring that intensity to this new Mavericks lineup.

The Dallas Mavericks have now put together a team that is fully capable of being a playoff contender. This new Maverick’s team is everything that last year’s team wasn’t. The team is now younger and also more athletic as Dallas sought out players who were able to make a difference in the game without having the basketball in their hands. The one thing that the team will be missing is the heart of champions, something that now only two players, Dirk Nowitski and Shawn Marion, share with Head Coach Rick Carlisle.
