Mavs Re-Sign Williams

The Dallas Mavericks kept free-agent guard Deron Williams at home, re-signing him to a one-year, $10 million contract on Friday.

The Mavericks also signed rookies A.J. Hammons and Dorian Finney-Smith and waived 7-foot center JaVale McGee.

Williams, a three-time NBA All-Star, spent last season with his hometown team and averaged 14.1 points and 5.8 rebounds per game.

The 7-foot Hammons was selected 46th overall in the second round of the NBA Draft last month out of Purdue. He averaged 15 points and 8.2 rebounds as a senior for the Boilermakers last season.

The 6-8 Finney-Smith was an undrafted rookie free agent from Florida who led the Gators in rebounding the past three seasons. He averaged 14.7 points and 8.3 rebounds as a senior.

McGee averaged 5.1 points and 3.9 rebounds in 34 games for the Mavericks last season.
